Marketing & Communication

Program Content

Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. Marketing plays a key role in establishing the position of a firm relative to its competition, ultimately influencing the success of the business.

Marketing and communication major program at IIHEM seeks to enhance the ability to analyze demographic, social, economic, technological, environmental and cultural factors influencing the demands for consumer and industrial goods and services, so that appropriate polices and procedures may be undertaken to meet these demands. Marketing managers must understand not only the traditional areas of marketing channels, sales management, advertising, product and brand management, and research, but must also be familiar with consumer and dealer motivation. The process requires an understanding of buyer and seller behavior within the context of the overall market environment.

Emphasis is placed on the qualitative aspects of business management in the communication and marketing areas.

The language courses focus on the content and the skills of communication and translation. The content of the communication module offered in this major emphasizes the techniques of communication in business as well as linguistic analysis and cross-cultural communication.

In addition to the marketing courses, students learn how to use and to do business through the Internet. They also explore the visual dimensions of communication by studying the principles of graphic design, the visual representation of data, and the proper design of man/machine interfaces.
